Comments:
"I would
just like to reiterate that we had a fabulous time last week
in Baddeck. The tournament was run well and it was enjoyed
by all of us. It has to be the best value of any tournament
we go in. Where can you get 2 huge dinners, golf and cart
for $250.00/player? The other thing we would like to say Tom
is that we can see you have the utmost respect from the
people of Cape Breton and we are proud to be associated with
the groups that you take out each year.
It’s the
one trip each year that I look forward to the most and we
will always try to be a part of it. Again thanks, we had a
great time. "

Golf Classic Provides
Support...
The Celtic Music Golf Classic
is the major fundraiser for the Celtic Music Interpretive
Centre in Judique, on the Ceilidh Trail, in Cape Breton.
The new facility opened its doors in the summer of 2006 and
the Director of Operations, Kinnon Beaton has already begun
many new projects such as the Buddy MacMaster School of
Fiddling, Sunday ceilidhs, pubs, and just a few weeks ago he
released our second compilation CD, the beautiful Failte:
Airs and Waltzes.
We are a unique establishment
built to share Cape Breton culture with you. Professional
musicians, such as Andrea Beaton and Glenn Graham, provide
services to educate and enlighten the public about special
aspects of the music. Come to the Centre to enjoy a private
Music Demonstration, the Interactive Exhibit Room, the
Archives, the Gift Shop, Fiddle School Instruction, and the
finest of live music.
Whether this is part of your heritage or something brand new
to you, a visit to the Centre will help you build new Cape
Breton memories before you leave the island. This is the
place to explore, experience, and enjoy!
Our new Tom Rankin Exhibit
Room has been custom designed to get you “Tuned in to Cape
Breton music.” It takes you on a journey through song,
dance, bagpipe, and fiddle music as told through
photographic displays and audio and video exhibits. Try your
hand at the fiddle or have a step dancing lesson on the wooden
porch.
Our Gift Shop is full of
musical treasures with a vast collection of CDs, DVDs, and
books, along with quality crafts, gifts and local comforts.
Two of the best new samplers of Cape Breton music, are the
CDs Failte: A Cape Breton Welcome and Failte: Airs and
Waltzes.
The Celtic Music Centre houses an Archives with audio tapes,
video, photographs and letters about Cape Breton and its
music, its musicians, and its music communities.
Use the Resource Library &
Reading Room; learn from the Inverness County Audio
Collection or the Willie I. MacIsaac Tune Book Collection,
information files, and photographs that help the public
understand how the music was and still is a large part of
community life.
Call the Archives to talk to
the staff if you wish to consider donating items for future
generations to enjoy, or e-mail
archives@celticmusicsite.com.
Without the Celtic Golf
Classic none of this would be possible. Thank you so much
for your continued support and generosity.
